A portion of every purchase is donated to a local charity.
Here's a brief introduction to each of these wonderful organizations.
-An Hour with Friends: On a weekly basis, a small group of caring people collect over 90+ lbs of produce donated by local farmers. Each Sunday the group gets together to cook one large meal that feeds over 75 people a hot meal. You may not know it, but a LOT of produce the in the Central Valley goes to waste. We as consumers have become accustomed to beautiful produce. And because of this, a lot of produce never makes it to the store, and once at the store, a lot of produce is thrown out. I used to do one of the produce pickups at a farmers market. I would watch people shopping, as they pick through the potatoes to find the smoothest, roundest potato. That lumpy potato? That not-so-straight carrot? Those veggies would get picked up and put back. Luckily the farmers would toss those in the donation bin. And the group would cut that produce up and turn it into soup, salad, or other healthy meal. Not only does this group help feed anyone in need of a hot meal, they also are helping to curb the food waste issue in the Central Valley.
-St. Paul Newman Center: A local Catholic Church located near Fresno State. They serve the students of Fresno State as well as the surrounding community. Although Catholic, they are a nondenominational church that is welcoming to anyone.
-Marjaree Mason Center: A local domestic victim’s shelter. Not only do they provide a safe haven, but they also provide counseling, education and other forms of help to these people so that they can break the cycle. Right now they are experiencing a surge in requests as the shelter in place has had negative consequences for women and children in abusive homes. They are currently still operating, still providing counseling by phone, and still providing shelter to victims.
So far, thanks to purchases like yours, I donated over $800 in 2019, and I've donated $240 so far this year.
Thank you!
